Environmental policy
The environmental policy of Aéroports de Paris is based on four principles:
- The systematic integration of the environment into all its activities through the application of ISO 14001 on the Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly and Paris-Le Bourget airports, respectively certified since 2001, 2002 and 2005,
- The commitment to act as a responsible stakeholder and limit polluting emissions,
- Prevention of collective pollution risks through the treatment of rainwater and wastes,
- The promotion of good environmental practices with its partners and stakeholders. This commitment led the company to the creation in 2003 of the environmental partners’ clubs.
Still in the same concern, the Paris-Charles de Gaulle pact for the environment was signed by 22 partners on 2 December 2009. The 22 signatories commit to implementing continuous improvement procedures and exchanging good practices.
At the same time, in the context of its activities, the Comité Interprofessionnel du Fret (CIF) has set up a task force on the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport platform to examine the issue of “waste management in the restricted area”.
The goals of this task force is to find the most suitable waste management solutions for a problem that represents a security as well as an environmental risk.
The limited task force currently includes Air France Cargo, WFS, SDV, Aéroports de Paris and the airport platform’s Environment partners club. These different companies have decided to fully engage in a approach geared towards quality and more generally a genuine sustainable development policy.
A brochure has been produced together with the CIF and the Partners Club to raise the awareness of people working on the sites to the issue of waste sorting and environmental instructions in the cargo area. The purpose of these structures is to involve companies on the airport platforms in implementing an Environmental Management System for their activities and accordingly transform our sites into genuinely Eco-efficient airports.
Today, these Clubs, in addition to being resource centres in good environmental practices, are evolving into new engines for SMEs located at airports (find out more at www.ecoairport.fr).
