Travel documents

Depending on your destination, you may require one or several documents. Without them, you may be refused boarding or entry at your destination. To avoid this inconvenience, inquire what documents are required when booking your ticket.

Identity papers*

French citizens

You only need valid identity papers for:
- travel within the European Union and Switzerland;
- tourist travel to Senegal, Tunisia and Turkey.

An unexpired passport is required for other destinations.
For the following countries, your passport must be valid at least six months after entering or leaving the country: Brazil, China, Egypt, Mauritius, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Foreign minor resident in France

To travel, foreign minors resident in France must have an unexpired travel document (such as a passport). In addition, they may obtain a travel document for foreign minors to facilitate travel outside the French territory.

This document allows them to benefit from a visa waiver on returning to France or when entering the external borders of the Schengen Area.

On returning to France, these documents are required to:
- re-enter the country or the outside borders of the Schengen area;
- prove the child is entitled to stay in France.

* Note: in any case, please find out from your airline the specific requirements to complete before your trip and the documents you may be asked for on checking in.
