Daniel, IT Project Manager

"Aéroports de Paris, with it variety of jobs and ongoing development, provides me with the opportunity to handle increasingly challenging projects"

You are "Design Project Manager". What does your job involve?
My job is to design and manage IT projects. I am responsible for developing IT solutions, for the IT budget and for meeting deadlines for a given project. I define and implement the technical infrastructure requirements needed to meet the requirements of the customer. I also supervise the work of the teams and am involved in its validation.

What are the attractions of this job and what qualities does it require?
The attraction is the diversity of the fields we encounter. The IT department is cross-disciplinary, which means that it has to work with many other departments and therefore needs a broad view and understanding of the different activities within the company.

Consequently, it is essential to be able to adapt to different working methods and to encourage an environment that favours working as a team (whether this be working with people from other departments or with IT suppliers).

What made you choose Aéroports de Paris?
Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by the world of aircraft. While I was a student I did a traineeship with Aéroports de Paris. There was a lot I didn't know about the various jobs within an airport and this gave me the opportunity to discover a profession that inspired me. This is why, when my studies ended, I was very keen to join this company.

What was your integration into the company like?
It went very well. My first job with Aéroports de Paris as a trainee stagiaire gave me the opportunity to meet the people with whom I work today.

You have been at Aéroports de Paris for 4 years. How do you see your future within the company?
Apart from its variety of jobs and constant development, Aéroports de Paris provides me with the opportunity to handle increasingly challenging projects. Therefore, I can see myself working in many IT sectors (Airports, Systems and Networks etc.) and, if I so choose, to progress to management roles.

Tell us what your working environment is like (atmosphere, relations with line managers, information etc.)

IT is a world where communication between individuals is essential. In the course of my work I need to operate within a large team. The diversity of those involved is highly enriching and, as a result, the atmosphere is very stimulating.

Aéroports de Paris is a company with a human dimension, where contact with line management and colleagues is easy. This provides an extra sense of calm and motivation so that I can flourish in my job from day to day.
